What to Look for When Hiring an Attorney
Choosing an attorney is a very important decision and not one to be taken lightly.
At the Hamilton Law Firm, we believe there are certain things you should expect from your lawyer. When you come to Hamilton Law Firm, you can rest assured that we will abide by our Client Bill of Rights.
To address some of the most common concerns of potential clients, we have included the answers to many frequently asked questions (FAQs). If you have other questions or want to schedule a consultation, contact us today to schedule an initial consultation.
How much will this cost?
We evaluate each case, and determine whether a contingency fee or an hourly rate is more appropriate. If we accept your case on a contingency basis, you will also be responsible for actual expenses incurred. The Hamilton Law Firm accepts cases to defend its clients on an hourly basis; the average hourly rate is $250.00 per hour for Ayesha Hamilton, Esq. Most cases will require a retainer fee to be held in escrow against which you will be billed every month for services provided by the firm. It is impossible for an attorney to accurately advise you on how much a litigation will cost but rest assured that the Hamilton Law Firm will make every effort to resolve your case in the most cost effective and efficient manner.
What is a retainer agreement?
A retainer agreement is a contract between you and the firm, wherein you agree to retain the firm for specified services. This contract outlines the fee arrangement, cost arrangement and respective obligations for your representation.
How long will my case take?
It is impossible to predict how long any case will take. The timing of the case depends largely upon the other parties involved, your particular goals and the court's schedule. Generally, cases in federal court are resolved more quickly than those in state court. In all cases, we will work to efficiently and effectively resolve your case.
How do I select an attorney?
Choosing an attorney is a highly personal decision. To develop a successful relationship with your attorney, you need to find someone who makes you comfortable and has a clear understanding of the law pertaining to your particular legal concerns. You need to fully understand the attorney's fee structure and you must be comfortable with this arrangement.
The only way to know whether you can work well with an attorney is to meet with that attorney. Above all, while hiring an attorney is a business decision, you must be comfortable with the individuals with whom you are working. At the Hamilton Law Firm, what you see is what you get. You will meet with Ayesha Hamilton, Esq., who will handle your entire matter from start to finish.
At the Hamilton Law Firm, we consult with our clients to assist in developing this relationship. This provides us with an opportunity to discuss your legal concerns, but also to ensure that we will be able to work together effectively. Contact us to schedule an initial consultation.
